But, it's nice to have a good CD player even if it's not a "universal player". My current cd players in use: Musical Fidelity CD PRE 24, Rega Apollo, and Magnavox CDP630. I keep them as back-ups and swap them in occasionally. I used them for a time in my secondary systems.

Every player I have mentioned, I have owned or currently own. I just hooked up two Chromecast Audio units to the two upstairs systems I run and have been"trial streaming" the new Amazon HD Music stuff which sounds darn good. It would not be embarrassed by players below a 1000. I mainly have used JRiver, streamed Spotify, and listened to some LP's (which I still have 1,000+ to move from my best friends house back to mine). Not sure how much I'll use it but it looks cool with the whole group. I can get to maybe 100 of them, out of 1,200 or so. I just can't get to all of my CD's as they are still boxed up from us moving into our new house a few months back. I've played maybe 4 or 5 CD's on it so far and it does sound good.

Well, I finally did buy it, too, but only because I was able to buy it for less than what an Onkyo 7030 CD costs. Well, I already had the preamp and asked about the amp, which I ultimately bought, and hem-hawed for a couple of weeks over buying the CD player.

Other than that, all of the other CD players were gotten rid of including a Denon DCD-1800 II and some others.įast forward to a couple of months ago and I get an email from the Nat'l Sales Manager from Onkyo/Integra (I was a rep for 8 years) telling me they are closing out inventory on their Reference Series 2-channel line and gave me prices on the 52 pound M-5000R amplifier, the 26 pound C-7000R CD player, and the 25 pound P-3000R preamp and asked me if I was interested in anything. I do have a 30 year old Carver DTL-200 CD player, that's signed by Bob, that goes with the Carver stack and gets rarely used. It's been great not having to mess with them and being able to pull them up on my phone or tablet using the Gizmo app for controlling JRiver that's fed from a SFF computer to the USB input on the Onkyo P-3000R. To ensure minimal signal interference, the C-7000R employs a thermally regulated high-precision clock, PLL ultra-low jitter technology, and a new circuit board construction. Over the last 4 years, there's maybe been a couple hundred more added either bought from thrift store type places or borrowed from friends. The C-7000R brings together features and refinements to bring the very best out of your audio CDs and CD-R/RWs, and even any MP3- or WMA-encoded discs you may have made on your computer.
